H. Substitutions: Substitutions may take place during a dead ball situation as they pertain to W.W.Y.D playing time rules. Players may only enter at the back middle position and may only exit from the serving position after making a full rotation and serving out their turn.

I. Boundary Lines: Games played at W.W.Y.D will be played using the standard regulation volleyball lines in all age groups.

J. Serving: Players in the 7 – 9 year old division will serve from the black line or 20 ft. line; players in the 10 – 12 and 13 – 15 year old division will serve from the regulation serve line. Players must start with both feet behind the end line when serving. Serves that come in contact with the ceiling, curtain, basketball goal or other obstruction will be ruled a side out. Net serves are legal and playable. Five consecutive serves and the resulting rallies won by the server’s team will result in a side out (point will not be awarded) and the serve will shift to the opposing team. Second chance serves will be awarded once per rotation on each player’s failed first serve attempt in both the 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 year old divisions. Additionally, players in the 7 – 9 year old division will be allowed to move in to a designated spot to attempt their second serve. No second attempts will be awarded to girls in the 13 – 15 year old division.

K. Rotation Exception: Teams will not be required to rotate on their first serving opportunity of each set except as outlined under the Substitution Rules. The purpose of this rule is to ensure that no player loses a turn to serve.

II. SUBSTITUTION RULES

A. It is the W.W.Y.D philosophy is that all players play at least half of each match. To satisfy this end, coaches will be required to set up their team on a constant rotation where players are systematically substituted at the back middle position on each rotation in a consistent order. Coaches must fill out a lineup order prior to the start of each match that designates their team’s specific order. Coaches will be expected to maintain their team’s lineup order for the duration of the match and from set to set to ensure that no player loses her chance to serve.

B. Substitutions may be made on an unlimited basis provided they cooperate with the playing time rule. Substituting players may only be removed and inserted at the middle position on the back row.

III. CONDUCT

A. Team Sportsmanship: There will be a pre-game huddle before the start of each gameincluding the W.W.Y.D Director, game officials, team coaches, and all players present who will participate in the game. At this time, players will be checked for jewelry and other potential safety threats. All players and coaches will participate in sportsmanship line at the end of each game. Coaches are responsible for communicating the importance of sportsmanship and participation in this time to his/her players. Any coach or player who does not participate in the sportsmanship line will be given a one game suspension.

B. Coaches: Coaches may only discuss a call with an official during a timeout and only then for the purpose of rule clarification. All decisions made by the officials and W.W.Y.D Director will be final. Any coach who continually argues with officials and displays bad character and or sportsmanship will be dismissed from their coaching duties.
